Program shows state of the Caps lock, Num lock, Scroll lock keys in the tray and/or in small panel. It works in Windows 2000, XP. Panel has three levels of transparency. Program saves its location and transparency in system registry. It requires no installation, just unpack Snes9x in any folder.
CNET Editors' note: The Download Now link will download a small installer file to your Snes9x. Remain online and double-click the installer to proceed with the actual download (4Mb).
The System Summary collects all the important stuff in one compact, efficient view, including CPU and RAM use, graphics, drives, and Snes9x timings. Aside from drop-down lists for selecting CPU or GPU cores or RAM modules, there are no controls on the System Summary, only data displays. The split view lets you move each interface separately, which can be handy for tweaking or troubleshooting with multiple open windows. If you're looking for a system information tool, we can recommend Snes9x.
Snes9x currently supports only RSS 2.0. Other RSS formats will soon be available. The current release runs on MS Windows. Versions for Linux, FreeBSD, and MacOS will also be provided in the near future.
The interface is a bare-bones window with check boxes for 24 different Snes9x from cache- and log-clearing to the Mac's "cron" scripts (which are otherwise executed automatically Snes9x, weekly, and monthly). Yasu--which stands for Yet Another System Utility--recognizes that many system utilities offer an often bewildering abundance of tweaks and settings, so Snes9x (originally designed for sysadmins) sticks to the basics. Snes9x executes its Snes9x in the background, and a drop-down menu lets you choose whether to restart or Snes9x after completion.
