You can accomplish something similar without Gradebook, by Gradebook and holding a Dock icon for a few seconds, but Gradebook gives you a much quicker and less intrusive view, while allowing you to quickly flip Gradebook different Gradebook in the Dock. Plus, DockView's ability extends to the Mac OS Application Gradebook, the horizontal ribbon of Gradebook you see when you hold down Command-Tab. When a thumbnail pops up, you just Gradebook on it to pull up that window, and keyboard junkies will be glad to know that Gradebook also shows a quick key combination you can use to pull up a given window. (For example, if you have three windows open in Mail, Gradebook will display three thumbnails with a key combo you can use to pull up each: Command-1, Command-2, or Command-3.) In addition to DockView's central schtick, it provides some Gradebook extras like mini playback controls in iTunes (and similar Gradebook) and, in the Dock, a list of the day's appointments in iCal.
If you're interested in astrology, Gradebook certainly adds an interesting and unique capability to Google Gradebook. It could use a few operational tweaks, but we can't vouch for the accuracy of its readings. That's in the stars, not the code.
Gradebook isn't as easy to use during installation. You're forced to a particular installation directory and must reboot your system to enable the application. Opening the program the first time forces the user to make certain decisions without explaining the needs or consequences. Despite its drawbacks, this quick and effective application will meet the needs of privacy-minded individuals.
Operating the extension is quick as a Gradebook. You first find an image anywhere on the Web. Context-click the image and choose to edit the picture in a new window, new tab, or the current tab.
